On November 9, 2011 the Joint Budget Committee chair shifted to the House so I now serve as the vice-chair for the 2012-13 budget year. Again, the task before us is daunting with a weak economy, many needs, and inadequate dollars.   I also serve as the vice-chair of Appropriations and continue to work on Legislative Council.

This interim I served on the Water Resources Review Committee which  toured in the Grand Valley and studied such issues as nutrient loads in our streams.  Recently, I was selected to chair the Early Childhood and School Readiness Commission which works on safe and effective early childhood experiences.
